Cutting Processed, Packaged Foods

The GM Diet can be a great way to lose weight. It is not meant to be a lifestyle, but there is one thing this diet can teach you: stop eating processed foods! This diet eliminates the need for processed foods and sugar. Coming out of this diet you must continue to cut these foods and make a lifestyle change.

Ask yourself a question, was how you were eating prior to this diet helping you to lose weight or feel better? No, for most of us it was not. Most people after doing this diet report they feel lighter, cleaner and more energetic. Why? This diet eliminated the junk!

Processed foods are full of bad oils, sugars, hydrogenated oils, too much bad salt and so on. Eat natural foods, foods that are nutrient dense like good meats and vegetables. You cannot lose weight and keep it off eating junk foods. It just will not happen.

Once you’re finished losing some great weight on the GM Diet, please make a lifestyle change towards real, whole natural foods.

    i hav strtd the gmdiet today….

    had 1 cup water melon in brkfst and a glass of water
    20 small seedless grapes and a glas of water fr snacking…..
    lunch i have water melon 1 and a half cup and a kiwi….yet to eat..and afternoon snacking i have 1 carrot….yet to have…..
    does taking grape and carrot has any effect on the dieting plan…in dinner i will be having chilled lemodade without sugar and soda juz water black salt and lemon
    is that fine

  2. how does salt effect weight loss ,eating roasted peanut do gain wait .I am 83kg my height is 5.5ft
    what should be my ideal weight

    • too much salt can cause a temporary retention of water weight. That’s really all.

      peanuts have Zero health benefits, they are toxic, full of pesticides truly no good.

  3. I learnt from a friend about this diet plan. I am 5’4″ height and 88 wt .and menopause symptoms . age 45 years. Is it safe to start this diet. I am advised to watch over sugar being slight on borderline. Please guide .I do yoga daily.

    • Can you clarify the over sugar statement. Based on medically what you can or cannot eat, do the foods look like they would be an issue?

    I have been through the GM diet and your forum and faq’s.. so most of my questions are solved.

    However i want you to just take a look some things and suggest.

    I am 5 feet 6..broad built. i used to be very lean till i started eating junk.. its two years i have put on weight and i switch between 75 kgs to 80 kgs normaly.
    i want to go down to 70 as i dont want to look too thin.

    recently i got my ligament fracture in ancle and that has caused me to think about being over weight and reduce…
    I cannot do many excersizes since i cannot put much strain on my ankle and i work till late night.
    So sleeping early cannot be an option for me.
    Presently i am 80 kgs.
    i have stopped pizza/burger and everything that is called junk and processed.
    i also take apple cider vinegar as it helps to detox.
    i try not to eat any thing after 7 pm but i take like fruit juice or anything that is liquid but not solid.
    i eat around 10 in the morning (usually two chapaties with tea)
    around 3.00 fruits for lunch/sometimes oat meal)
    around 7.00-8.00evening vegetable soup and oats..
    that’s it.. if i feel very hungary then i give up and might eat something in the night before sleeping like a bread to two.

    So my questions are:

    1) during day 1 cant i eat as much fruits as i want, since i feel really hungry. it a mind thing when ever i plan to control i tend to eat more.

    2)Why banana is required as banana with milk would increase the fat..please correct me if i am wrong. Also i am not a fan of milk, can i replace it with milk powder.

    3)Tomatoes: i am not a Fan of tomatoes, don’t at all like them, however reading FAQ’s found out that this wont work with out tomatoes, so is it ok to peel the skin off Tomatoes and eat only the pulp.. or the skin is required.

    4) can i completely replace the meat with the soya chunks. (like fry them in olive oil with vegetables.)

    5) Can i replace vegetable soups with only Boiled lentils/dal with salt and lemon to taste.

    6) does my eating habbits need change or i can switch to my present plan after 7th day.

    • Apple cider vinegar is great for many issues. Oddly, if I wanted to gain weight, I would eat like you do, wheat will certainly cause weight gain. You may lose a little weight eating like that, it will come back to bite you and is not balanced or sustainable. fruit juice at night, you are drinking pure sugar before bed, a great way to gain weight.

      1) yes, however don’t go overboard
      2) milk powder fine or almond milk. If you don’t want banana pick another fruit.
      3) yes, i peel the skins myself, they are hard to digest. Pick another veg if you like as well.
      4) No, soya is pure junk and will only cause issues. Do eggs or legumes with good fat. What oils do you use?
      5) No, legumes and vegetables are nutritionally different. NOT THE SAME
      6) I cannot imagine living a healthy life eating like that. happy to help if you like…

    You have helped me in understanding where i am going wrong.
    I use only Oilve oil…

    Now what i understood is :-

    Juice a strict no, since it contains Sugar and no use in weight loss.
    No soya as it is junk, instead eggs or fish.
    No apple cider? it does help in digestion though… but i am not that expert so will go as you say.

    This is post 7 day Diet plan
    Help in following.. kindly correct me if i am wrong
    Morning:
    steamed vegetables with little olive oil and onion stir fried/boiled egg/tea/ half fried egg in oilve oil with brown bread
    afternoon
    Fruit juice Fresh or carrot juice fresh + boiled lentils/ vegetable soup.
    evening
    Fruits/ oats/tea with mcvities/corn boiled with onion and salt
    Dinner
    Again steamed vegetables with olive oil and stir fried onion./sprouts with vegetables

    Sleep πŸ™‚

    I am really thankful that you have taken time and looked into this for me. Kindly feel free to advise me where ever you feel i am wrong.

    • I am saying apple cider vinegar is great. I take it daily.

      I cannot say it looks great – however it looks much better. Once again make sure each meal, every one has protein and good fat each meal. Good fats are not your enemy. Here’s the issue, if you eat wheat, I just could not help you. It’s a great way to gain weight, it’s junk. Corn, terrible, no nutrients, a GMO food, bad. However that’s up to you. Try and think nutrient dense food when you eat. Not sure I understand evening and dinner. Beware eating too much before bed, try and eat a minimum of 3 hours before sleep. Other than that, nice πŸ™‚

    Can you please help me with a Good diet plan..

    Ps : i prepared the Soup and it is amazing.. never loved tomatoes so much.. i am loving the soup πŸ™‚ its my second day of the GM

  10. Dear Kevin,

    I have already followed the diet and created a very closed Indianised version of your diet plan retaining all items except replaced it with Indian fruits or diet when it’s not available in India.

    It worked on me last time and I loose some 3 Kg (I am presently at 5.5″/75kg).

    Need guidance of following
    – Can we can add Salt or pepper in Day 1 to 3 on fruit or veggies?
    – Can GM Diet can be done in continuation i.e. Batch 1 of 7 days and then immediately start Batch 2 of 7 days; or you suggest break between batches?
    – Any side effect of doing continously for 2 batches or 15 days?

      1) yes, add salt, pepper and spices as you like to food.
      2) I suggest a 2 week minimum break, during that time stay gluten and sugar free.
      3) less wight loss only really.

And also see a doctor if you feel you need approval to do so. If you plan to exercise during the diet, you cannot do heavy weights and heavy workouts (We state this on the Exercise page), you need to have the correct amount of protein. The first 4 days of this diet do not have protein, so your exercise you be very light. You cannot tear muscle down without something to build it up. Thanks You
